Drug Description

Viagra is drug that provides oral therapy for men suffering with erectile dysfunction. The main ingredient is citrate salt of sildenafil.

Viagra Uses

Sildenafil can help treat sexual problems in males such as erectile dysfunction or impotence. When combined with sexual arousal, sildenafil helps blood surge into the penis which facilitates an erection. Sildenafil is not to be used by women.

How to use Viagra

Take the dose orally half an hour, but not more than four hours, before becoming sexually active. For best results take the dose one hour before sexual activity. Always use Viagra as recommended by a doctor. Do not take more than one dose every 24 hours.

If you have a meal with a high fat content, this may delay the effectiveness of Viagra.

It is not advisable to drink grapefruit juice, or eat grapefruit, when you are using Viagra. Discuss this with your doctor.

If you are taking a medication to treat HIV, you should not exceed a 25mg dose of Viagra in a 48 hour period.

Important Information about Viagra

Tell your doctor if you have any allergies to make sure you are not allergic to sildenafil.

Tell your doctor if you have suffered, or suffer with, any of these medical conditions: a stroke in the last 6 months, very low or high blood pressure, any heart related illness, stomach ulcers, a bleeding disorder, liver or kidney disease, eye problems, myeloma or leukemia, sickle cell anemia, or any problems with your penis.

Sildenafil can make you dizzy or interfere with your vision, therefore be careful when you drive or use machinery. Cut down on the amount of alcohol you consume.

Sildenafil must not be used with nitrates, or any recreational drug that contains butyl nitrate or amyl. You could be at risk of a serious, even fatal, reaction.

Viagra Side Effects

Most men do not experience any side effects when taking Viagra. But if any of the following symptoms cause continual discomfort, it's best to call your doctor: blurred vision or other vision problems, light-headedness, dizziness, diarrhea, stuffy nose, heartburn, upset stomach, flushing, or headache.

Although very rare, Viagra has been associated with a sudden loss of vision. This is serious and you should seek emergency attention. You will be more prone to this if you are older than 50, if you smoke, or if you have high blood pressure, eye problems, high cholesterol, diabetes, or heart disease.

Sexual intercourse puts extra strain on the heart, particularly if you already have heart problems. If you feel nauseous, dizzy, or have chest pain during intercourse, stop immediately and get medical attention.

Very rarely sildenafil may cause you to have a prolonged or painful erection. If your erection does not diminish after 4 hours, you will need medical help. If you ignore the problem permanent problems may occur.

If you have a sudden hearing problem after taking sildenafil, or you experience ringing in your ears, get medical help.

Viagra is not likely to cause an allergic reaction. However be aware of the following signs: trouble breathing, severe dizziness, strange swelling, itching, or rash.
